I’m only on week 4 so I don’t know about the length of runs your doing at present, but I find it’s my legs that stop me before my lungs? Do you have a lung condition? Before my op(last dec) I used a lung trainer that I blew in for a few time’s a day as hard as I could and it made my longs stronger for surgery, but I have been told by the docs it’s actually used by athletes too? Perhaps if you told your GP or someone you could have this prescribed to help??? X obv I’m not a medical prof but I wondered if it would be helpful as my docs said it’s used for COPD aswell? X

Are you breathing in through your nose whilst pushing out your stomach? You'll be able to get more air in that way if you are struggling. I try and breathe in for 4 counts and out for 4 counts in time to my steps - hope this helps!
I do not agree that breathing in solely through your nose is the most efficient way for most people to breathe and there is plenty written to argue against this method.
Breathing should be through the path of least resistance, otherwise required volumes cannot be obtained.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.
Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.
