Hi. I’ve just completed W5R2 and found it much easier than I expected. However I am dreading R3 as I know it’s a 20 min run. I run with my husband who is my pace setter but he can’t run on the morning of my next run. I have found running in the mornings much easier so am wondering if running after work will be much harder.
Does anybody notice any difference when running later?? I really want to do this run without having to stop as I haven had to stop at all so far.
I am a morning runner and running after work has never been much fun for me, but I do a hard physical job, so it is not surprising, but we are all different and you will only find out by trying it.
In respect of dreading W5R3.........don't.......that is totally counterproductive. This breakdown of W5 may help put it into perspective. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Being determined is one thing but allowing that to generate dread is not helpful. You will run much better if you relax both physically and mentally.
If you stop on the run, then you repeat the run. You have been repeating runs since W1. Every run makes you stronger. What is there to dread?
As it happens, I found W5R2 much harder than W5R3. Time to set your own pace, relax, and start deliberately slowly in the first half of it... somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes you may even feel yourself going faster with no extra effort, and there’s your happy pace. Relax before you run... you can do this.
