After three weeks out I’m back!

So after the disappointment of a painful ankle problem halting my progress after my W8R3 outing I’m back! Three weeks out in the end after hoping that a week might be enough. I went for a gentle jog after the first week out just to test it and after only five or six minutes ended up walking home thoroughly dejected. Yesterday I completed W9R1 and was amazed that I not only completed it after three weeks out, but completed it easily. Physically I could have gone on for at least another ten minutes. My ankle had the odd niggle and nothing painful but my overall fitness felt good! I will need physio on the ankle at some point though as a bit of self analysis during that run made me realise that the range of motion through my left foot is quite different to my right. With my right foot I push off from my toes but on my left I subconsciously push off with my foot flat. Once I realised this I started to push off with my toes on my left and while not painful it was quite uncomfortable so I will need to work on that. But all in all I’m so happy to be back and will have a three day rest between runs to ensure I complete the programme.

Wow that’s fantastic! I’ve also had 3 weeks out due to injury, knee for me, and tried w6r2 for my first one back and found that hard so for you to go straight back to where you left off is amazing, well done!

Thanks. It feels great. I hope you get your rhythm back soon. Being injured is such a bore isn’t it.
