Ater trying to avoid the poor weather last week and winding myself up in the process I've decided I'm going out no matter what so that I have some structure to the plan instead of chopping and changing days.
I was relatively lucky today having stepped out just as the rain stopped, but it was hard going in a strong wind.
For today's run, I decided to test myself by setting off downhill - this meant returning uphill. Gulp.
Guns N Roses accompanied me at the start, with November Rain - wrong month, but quite apt for the weather we're having.
I set off on the first 90 second run. Laura stepped in to tell me it was complete and that I should make sure I've fully recovered. Then she announced a three minute run. For a split second my heart sank, and then I got into it - almost forgetting that I had to run three minutes uphill on the return.
What was I worrying about? I'm surprising myself every step of this journey to get fitter. I managed this run as in the previous weeks. Surely there is going to be a hiccup along the way? I'm readying myself for having to repeat a week, but I feel that the determination is there.
I'm enjoying this ☺

Thankfully snow blew right past us but another weather warning has been issued for ice tomorrow - no run for me though. Hopefully Wednesday will bring a change in the weather for everyone.
No, you’ll be fine LittleIreland, really you will! Each run is preparing you for the next one and you’ll stronger by the week! Well done you for getting out there whatever the weather- that’s determination! Happy running!
On Saturday we walked to the railway station in the wind and rain and I was cursing the weather!
Last weekend we were away and there were floods in pontypridd after the river taff burst it's banks and we were in Swansea so had gone to places like museums and art galleries to stay away from seafront and swollen rivers as better safe than sorry as when it's really bad it's not worth going out and risking getting injured although I do go when it's raining but not when it's severe!
One Sunday it was heavy rain and wind and we stayed home and did an indoor dancing workout which we all enjoyed.
I can put up with most of the weather tbh, except the wind. A lot of my job entails working outdoors, so the wind can make it pretty horrendous, especially when the chill factor is added in.
In many ways, my job and the weather has forced me indoors at home. Why be cold, dripping wet etc when there's no need? Mind you... I'd rather than be out than dancing 😂
My two left feet would launch me onto my backside in no time ☺
Seriously though - I agree. At times the weather isn't worth the risk.
Well done. Looks like a beautiful place to run. Don't assume there will be hiccups - you may sail through the prigramme, just take it slow and steady, particularly as the runs get longer and you'll be fine.
I'll definitely take that on board - there's always a time I'm wanting to try to go faster, but I know it'll be counterproductive. I guess speed comes with stamina and experience.
I do think speeding up before you've really built your running legs is potentially a problem. I ran too fast last week and am suffering a bit. You may of course be a lot younger than me though! Good luck.
