Wow can't believe its week 7 already. Its my 1st post but love seeing the support the group gives to each other throughout my C26K journey. Run 2 was really hard today with Hayfever. Anyone else had to battle with Hayfever whilst trying to run. Do feel with my nose blocked it is hindering my runs.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

I am a lifelong sufferer.

I actually got one of my parkrun pbs after using a nasal spray for my hayfever.........it works for clearing blocked nasal passages too.

Enjoy your journey.

Wow couch to 6k. sounds like a good plan to me.... ha ha

Seriously, I too have really bad hay fever and I found running 1st thing much better. I always wear sunglasses to help stop pollen but i know I can't breather in through my nose like Laura on my podcasts says - I def breath in and out through my mouth and boy does it get dry. I found a little trick that really helps - I take a jelly bean with me in my pocket and one in my mouth at the start. If I feel a dry mouth after 10 mins I use the Jelly bean and it really does help. I ran yesterday in the evening at around 6, it was hot and I ran on a grass field for about 3 or 4 mins as part of my run (sure it didnt help). My mouth was dry after the run & my eyes were really red after my shower. But maybe breathing through my mouth actually helps - stops the pollen going up my nose maybe.

I use one a day tablets - lorratadene , they dont make me drowsy and help (I think) - cheap from Tesco.

Good luck and keep on Running

Hayfever is a killer. I get it bad too. I can recommend this spray - boots.com/sterimar-isotonic... - it has helped with my congestion.

I suffer from hay-fever but don't have a congested nose, quite the opposite, my nose is running with me. My problem is that my chest feels quite tight, like I can't take a really deep breath.

I just started running on C25k again after a two and a half year break and am in week 4. The last time I stopped running at the beginning of the hay-fever season in March as suddenly I couldn't even run 1km without stopping anymore when a few weeks before I could do 5k+ fairly easily. Let's see how far I get now in the summer and if I will be able to do the longer runs. I definitely prefer outdoor exercise in winter. If anyone has discovered any miracle remedy for us hay-fever sufferers, please give me a shout.
