Week 8 advice?

I finished week 7 this morning and my speed has got progressively faster through the week (although still slower than a tortoise!). Do I slow down a bit for W8R1?

Just Keep the pace nice and slow.. at the moment it’s building stamina to get up to running for 30 minutes.. the pace doesn’t matter at the mo as that’ll come with time.. I’ve just done week 8 run 1 and kept my pace slow as if you go faster you’ve a risk of struggling and not enjoying it. That extra few minutes I found hard but completed it! I ran 3.4km in 28 mins today.. furthest I’ve ran ever!!! Good luck 🙌☺️

I've never enjoyed it! Although like the post run feeling. I will take your advice and go slow. Do you just measure the running bit? I put my tracker on when i start walking.

Yeah I record just my runs now in strava .. I found most of the run today actually ok .. the last bit is up a slight incline which doesn’t help but I’m made up my stamina and fitness getting better as was counting down 69 seconds at the start. You’ve come a long way 👏

I’ve just completed week 8 run 2, I did 3.4km in 28minutes and was thinking I might be too slow, there were a lot of hills 🤣. Thank you 🙏

Great stuff. As fitness rises so does our conversational pace at which we are recommended to run. It’s very possible that you can be faster every run without trying as this happens, and if that’s what’s happening with you then there’s no need to be changing anything major. If you’re chasing a faster pace with more effort then, yes, slow back down. Assuming the former scenario is what’s happening, I’d use the small step up to week 8 to try to find a new gear with slightly lower effort in the first few minutes and then ease into your happy pace.

I love the idea of one day having a happy pace!! I'm not running at a pace where I'm out of breath but my legs are saying come on Laura that must be it lol
