W7D2 done while out of town for work!

Well I ended up being sent out of town unexpectedly for work, for 2 weeks, and was so worried that this would derail my momentum! I’ve tried and quit many other fitness activities over the years, and I could just see myself using this trip as an excuse to stop running while I’m out of town, and then just not picking up again after I get home. So I determined that I would try my best to keep going, and I did!

I’m planning to use 2 rest days instead of one, to give myself a break in how many runs I’ll have to do while I’m here. And it’s HOT here (California), over 100 F during the days! So I knew I’d have to go first thing in the morning. It was 80F during my run today which isn’t comfortable but it’s doable. I also am technically not supposed to leave the hotel without another coworker, we have to use the “buddy system” at all times, for our safety, but there was no way I was going to ask someone to run with me! I’m self conscious enough as it is. So I stayed on the street (very low traffic, with a sidewalk) in front of the hotel and just looped that over and over. I’d planned to use the hotel’s fitness center treadmill but of course the fitness center is closed because of covid19.

Now my next hurdle is how to fit in a run after a 12 hour night shift! I have worked nights before but it always wore me out toward the end of the shift, but immediately after my shift will be the only time I can run if I want to avoid 105 F degrees outside! I have no idea if I’ll be just too exhausted to run, but at least I got in my first run today before my shifts start.

I also got my new Garmin Vivoactive fitness watch delivered just hours before I left home so that’s given me incentive to run since I want to play around with it.

Well done 👍

I don’t know to help you with a run after 12 hr shift. I was thinking if you are not to tired, does the place you are working at have a Multi-storey car park. You could run around one of the levels. Just am idea. Otherwise you will have to put your next run off until you get back home.
