Hi. Can’t quite believe I’ve just done 5th run. And still keen!
Saw Strava stats on a post on this board so downloaded it. Struggling to use it and all I could find was distance run. Which was a bit too shabby for an unfit 62 year old with a bad back at 2.8km. 😀. So wondering if you only get fancy stats from Strava if you subscribe or do you think I am missing something?
Thanks all.

Hi, you should get a gps map of your run with distance, pace, achievements (personal bests etc) and a certain amount of information on your performance over other matched runs. You should also be able to follow people and have them follow you.
Strava have started charging for detailed information, mainly because they weren't making money giving lots of information for free and didn't want to go down the advertising route. At the moment I haven't taken the subscription because I'm waiting on a Garmin watch and I want to see how I go with that. My partner and sons all have subscription because they like the social/ competitive aspect.
I'm sure someone else here will come along in a minute to tell you how useful they find the subscription. If it's just basic information you're after, free Strava isn't any better than Mapmyrun or some other trackers now. If you find them easier to use.
If you love stats - grab a pair of under armour Hovr Sonic running shoes - they have a chip and tell you exactly what you’re doing and link with MapMyRun. The right shoe has a chip in. I didn’t buy them for that, but it’s intriguing.
