Not sure if this is a stupid question or not so kinda hoping someone will be able to help 🙈 iv just downloaded Strava and connected my Fitbit. If I hit run on my watch and record my runs through the Fitbit. Will I still be able to analyse it through Strava or does it have to be done the other way? 🤷‍♀️ (don’t really want to be fiddling around on the app whilst running if possible) thank you in advance!!

If you've connected your Fitbit to strava you should get the results of your run on both. You only need to start your watch and it should automatically upload to strava👍

No such thing as a stupid question here LME! Not sure how Fitbit works as I don’t have one but my Garmin and Strava are linked so as I run I can see the Garmin but the information is also on Strava when I look at it later as well, they run in tandem. No need to faff about trying to look at Strava while running! But I’m a non-techy so can’t offer more than that!

That’s great thank you. I thought that was the case, I have been thinking for a little while now about getting a Garmin as my Fitbit is very old and not so focussed on running but more walking! I will use it for the time being and hopefully will sync to strava for a couple of weeks. Would you recommend a particular Garmin for a newbie? Iv been looking at the Forerunner 235 but don’t want anything to techy either haha. Thank you ☺️

Not sure about recommendations- I have a Garmin Vivoactive because I also use it for swimming. But lots of people on here like the Forerunner 35, 45 or 235 Garmins. Happy running!

Lovely, thank you. I’ll have a look into a couple over the next couple of weeks to see which one 😌

Hi,

I had a Fitbit Inspire HR and found out that a) you have to make sure everything is synced before you start b) press the button on your Fitbit and scroll to ‘run’ and press again c) wait for GPS to connect (it will buzz when it does) and then set off! This worked intermittently and as I started to run more frequently I got infuriated by the hit and miss of the recording capability. Nothing more irritating than getting back from a good run where you think you have achieved some PB’s only to find zippo on Strava! In the end bought a Garmin which I am very happy with.

Hope that helps?

Thats really helpful. I have been thinking more and more about getting a Garmin recently because I feel the Fitbit is more suited for those who enjoy walking and wants to hit step targets etc. Mine is extremely old and I don’t think the runs are recorded correctly 😣 which is why I was thinking maybe I should use Strava but now I’m confused if I need to use Fitbit or forget it all together! 🤣 which Garmin do you have or do you recommend? Iv been looking at the Forerunner 235 but don’t want anything to techy as I only really want a running watch if that makes sense? Thank you so much!!

I bought the Garmin Forerunner 45 which is a reasonable size. Not too overpowering and in your face. Once you get it, it’s easy to set up and link to Strava but I would advise spending a bit of time learning the button function. It syncs automatically but you do need to just check before you set off. Then it’s pretty simple and just a question of pressing top right hand button and off you go.

Yes I like the idea of having one which is quite simple to use so will have a look into that one also! Thank you ☺️

I use a Fitbit Alta HR and MapMyRun. I record the run on MMR and it syncs to my Fitbit so it appears in both. I like that I can then see my heart rate data from my run on the Fitbit app.

If I recorded the run on my Fitbit it might show in MMR as a workout but it wouldn’t show the route and all the other data like speed, so I prefer to do it the other way round

Yes iv used map my run in the past also, good couple years ago now but maybe I will stick with that instead. I’m sure MPR and strava are pretty similar anyways! Thank you 😌
