Help with back ache

Hi

I have tried to do the Couch -5K before and the 1st run is OK, then 2nd time my back starts to hurt half way, then 3rd time ver painful and I stopped doing it.

I have got lower back pain from being so sedentary and overweight, but when I’m running, it feels like it seizes up and locks, and I can’t continue. Does anyone else have this? Any advice?

Maybe speak to your gp.

I am doing Strength and Flex program alongside the c25k and it has helped me no end. The link is on IanondaTruffe pinned posts. It sounds hardcore but it’s not, you start with press-ups against the wall and it teaches proper stretching.

Be careful with yourself and make sure you run slowly and wear a decent bra(?) and trainers. Good luck with your journey 😍

Thank you. I will find the strength and flex program and invest in a good bra. I think it’s safe to say I will always run slowly!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

For lower back you need to do core strength exercises, which you will find on the Strength and Flex forum (link in guide)

Enjoy your journey.
