Runners do need good core strength, the lack of which can cause back ache.

I didn't suffer from this until I increased my running distance to 10 miles, but if your core is not strong I suppose it can happen at any stage. Planks are the commonest route to core strengthening. If you Google core exercises for runners, you should find plenty of advice.

Could be that you need a new couch.

Great advice there, I have been getting lower back ache for the last 2 weeks, never once in my life had back pain. I don't actually know if mine is running related, although I have started running faster up hills but the pain strikes at differing times and its pretty sharp, and never get it when running. I also need a new sofa.

Funnily enough yes I did for a while initially whether walking or running . Your post made me realise i don’t suffer from any minor back aches anymore. Thank you . I don’t know how long you’ve been running but I do hope it eases soon for your back.

Clearly another good reason to keep on keeping on after C25k.

Hello all, I’ve been to the physio for the same reasons and turns out it’s sciatic pain caused by muscle tightening. So, the answer is stretch those hips and quads and build your core strength. It’s amazing how a few stretches can help the pain disappear. Just a suggestion though, I’m no expert.
