Due to do week 3 run 1, tomorrow - looks quite scary have only just managed to complete week 2. I’m 56 have never been able to run, I’m quite chuffed I’ve actually managed to get this far. Would welcome any tips or advice. What music do people listen to?

You can do it, I felt the exact same each time I moved into a new week. I think the biggest thing that helped me was sleeping plenty drinking enough water and stretching! There’s a good 7min post-run yoga video by “yoga with Adrienne” on YouTube and I found that’s really made a difference. And knees supports!

Well done for starting. I was at that stage 4 weeks ago, I was very tired at the end of week 2 and struggled doing week 3 run 1. I went back and did one more week 2 run, then the next time I did wk 3 run 1 with no problem. The programme paces you so you can manage to up your game, it really works. I am now on week 6. Once you get past week 3 it is very important to do dynamic stretches before and held stretches after (there are links on the advice pages), they really help your recovery. I use the podcasts with Laura and she chooses the music which matches the pace. Good Luck!

Trust in the programme, it honestly works as everyone on here will tell you. I bet at the beginning of Week 1 that Week 2 looked scary, but you've just aced that! To me, it's all a mind game. If you're told to run for 1.5 mins, you do just that and think phew, I did it. But somehow when you're told to run for 3 mins, you can do it too. The programme is so clever at building up your stamina that you constantly surprise yourself 😊 Hydration is absolutely paramount. I also read a great tip on here, make your warm up walk high tempo, swing your arms about to get your heart and lungs going, it really helps.

I listen to music that uplifts me, that I can sing along to (in my head), it gives me another focus and makes me feel happy 😁

Good luck, you've got this!

If you use Spotify there’s a Runner’s Club 160bpm playlist which someone on here recommended a while ago. It has In the Mood as well as a great selection of slightly more recent songs.

I started last year aged 62, having hated running for my whole life. I’m very slow, but I’m still running!

Hello and well done for completing week2. Lots of good advice already from everyone. My advice would be listen to your body, don't worry about speed, never miss your rest day/s and just enjoy👍
