Week 4 run 2 completed (I still didnt die..I am a machine!)

A friend gave me a much better pair of trainers and the difference it has made to my calf, shin and ankles is amazing! Had to walk for about 30 seconds of the first 3 minutes and about 1 minute of the last 5 minutes. The wind was just crazy and making me cough. Also eating a small snack before had was not a good idea as combined with the wind I spent about a minute of my run heaving like a numpty. But....I mad eup for it and ran for and extra 3 to 4 minutes or so after (is it ok to go off track and extend it alittle I dod do a final warm down walk and yoga after to stretch out?)

Well done.

I can only say that sticking to the plan works for the vast majority, whilst departing from it has resulted in injury for many over the years............the decision is yours, but how would you feel if you injured yourself while doing an "extra" bit of running.

If you want to be the best runner that you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days.

Thanks, it wasn't exactly extra just the bits i walked for when i should have been running. Rather than completely going of plan sorry if i didnt make that clear.

I do walking and yoga everyday but on run days my yoga is focused on cool down stretches.

If you walk when you should be running, you should repeat it until you run it according to the plan. It didn’t matter if it takes longer than 9 weeks. Just enjoy it.

Thanks, for your reply, I ran it fine for run 1 of the week today it was just contending with the wind that made it difficult (and having eaten before hand that I don't normally do) its the first time ive run in the wind 🙂

Yes wind adds another dimension. I live on the coast and there is often a westerly wind - apparently it’s as good as hill training . I think it was windy everywhere today.

Same here we live coastal and the wind was extra today! Beautiful rough sea though
