For first time since week 1 I felt maybe this is not for me. Just finished wk5r1. It was tough. All that kept me going was how good I feel once it's over.

Apprehensive about runs 2/3 next week. Let's enjoy the weekend first.

Anticipation not apprehension... delight not dread... take it slow and steady and believe in yourself, you are ready for each and every runs:)

Well done you!

Hi Deejay53 ...try not to be disheartened...I know some runs can be tough, believe me, I’ve been there...and it’s a lonely place....but we’re all here to spur you on so here goes.....

Look how far you’ve come? Literally, how many Kms have you run that you never thought you would?

Don’t overthink it...you said you’re already feeling apprehensive about your upcoming runs...chance for those gremlins to get in and tell you not to go...ignore them, enjoy the weekend and get your running gear on when the time comes and just go.

You are not alone....many, many of us, if not all of us, have gone through the ‘I can’t do this, runnings not for me’ stage...but it is, running is for everyone, you just have to learn how to do it properly to suit you and your body..start each run slower than slow so that you can keep control of your breathing, you can always work on pace/speed etc once you’ve graduated if you need to.

Do the programme at your own pace, it took me longer than 9 weeks to complete but I think that was down to confidence, which I found on here, I could move on because I was doing everything right, everything that was wrong was just in my head.

Read back on some graduates old posts and I’m sure that will make you feel better.

You’ve already said that you love the feeling afterwards so take that thought with you each time instead of the dread..if you haven’t already click on this link too, that should help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Good luck...and let us know how it goes

Many people push too hard.............most of us do not choose arduous physical activity as a fun pastime........so try slowing down and you may well have the epiphany that comes to many.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

In respect of W5 this breakdown may hlep healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Try to be kind to yourself. You’ve come so far! I’m just coming to wk8r3 and never believed I could get this far. (Haven’t run for 27 years 😬) I’m learning that starting slow and maintaining pace and rhythm is what works for now. When we’ve cracked week 9 we can consolidate and start building speed if we want to. There are no shoulds here - except to take care of yourself and work with your body at your own pace. That feeling you mention - about keeping going because of the feeling you get afterwards is a great goal. Well done and keep going! You can do it! Have a great weekend 😊
