Wk5R3 is a ******!

2nd attempt. Failed. 🤦‍♀️👵🏻. Only by 30 seconds at the end but I had nowt left in the tank, my knee was nipping and I was done.

Disappointed in myself! Daft thing is that I know I’ll smash Wk6R1 as I adapt to the intervals really well.

Knee worrying me though as it’s swelling up underneath the knee cap. Have it on ice and will see how I feel on Sunday. Do not want an injury or give up as I’ve got this far. Any hints for my knee? 🤔

Woah there... 19:30 seconds run and you’re saying that you failed? I’m not having that! Fail is a dirty word on here, and for good reason... if you cross the start line you haven’t failed! There’s more victories in your run than that one defeat at the end... be proud of yourself... when did you last run for over 19 minutes? I’ve been running for two years and sometimes my tank empties and I can’t complete a run... it doesn’t change anything, and I always look back at how tough W1R1 was, and then I smile.

Can’t tell what is the issue with your knee, obviously, but if it persists it’s worth getting it checked out. In general, the strengthening work, pacing tips, shoe advice and comments about form in the guide healthunlocked.com/couchto5... will serve you well gong forwards.

Hope it settles and you’re back at this soon.

I also felt that intervals suit me better. Once that you can finish the program and can run for 30 minutes, you are free to run in the way you want. It is important to reach the goal of the 30 minutes to have enough resistance and stamina but afterwards you can run in the way that makes you feel better.

Regarding your knees, have some rest and check your doctor if It still hurts

Good luck!!

You did better than me, I got to 14 minutes and my calf muscle went and now I can't run at all. I'm gutted, and I'm frankly querying the programme. It told me my body was ready and it was all in my mind. But it seems to me my body wasn't ready. And now I'm paying for it. I so wanted to do this during lockdown - I'm not normally someone that moans but I am really disappointed. Maybe if it was more gradual I'd still be running. I'm hoping to go back to week 4 next week but even walking and my calf is still sore after about a 20 minute walk and hills much worse. I've tried all the stretches I've seen online. Any advice on how long to rest from and the best self help to get back much appreciated.

ah poor you!

my husband was doing this with me and tore his calf in week 2. He’s still not running as he tried to return after just two weeks, so take it easy. I’ve got my knee strapped up tonight too, not doing anything for a wee while either.

😢
