I’m fuming! First the positive (I am unfit weighing 113.2kg with RA) and I managed to be out for 20 minutes and did 3 runs.
The negative - I was passed by 5 runners, not a single one observed the 2m gap. Guess I won’t be able to do this until Covid-19 has passed. So selfish.
Just try to find a quiter place or time. Meanwhile I am running with a mask since in the place i have to go to run It is impossible to keep the distance /nor the other runners are willing to keep It. It is a little more difficult but i feel safer and It is doable.
Welcome to the forums and the plan. Great job out there.
Sadly, while most people are complying with the 2m rule, there will always be some covidiots. While I’m not advocating running closer than 2m apart, that distance is much more relevant indoors... outdoors the risk of infection is extremely low, especially with a breeze. If you remember when this first started it was about minimising contact and the science was that being within 2m of someone indoors for 15 minutes was a big risk... and that science is still good. Sure we’d like to be 2m apart all the time for our peace of mind, but on occasion that won’t happen... like when 2 people are walking in opposite directions to a corner and arrive at the same time... the key is to minimise the time that you’re in that position. Passing runners are within the 2m distance from each other for much less time than two walkers would be. I’m not saying to not care... but just not to overly worry about these situations. In general when I’m out running I’m much more than 2m from anyone, I’ve had some “interesting” routes where I’ve seen the issue coming and taken a strange turn to avoid it.
The good news is that today’s weather isn’t predicted to last long... hopefully we’ll get a little rain too, then the slight chance of infection will almost disappear.
Try to find a quiet time/place to minimise the likelihood of these “contacts” and if you see it coming, it’s ok to stop and step away from it.
Firstly, well done for getting going and getting out, please don’t let ignorant people stop your journey now you’ve started it 💚
Secondly, I’m finding that people are distancing less recently and I have found that the worst people for this are cyclists, it’s as if they think their bike gives them an invisible force field!
Please don’t give up 👍
Thanks everyone. I’ve only been out 4 times since just before lock down, 3
of which were to go to the doctors. I am aware that there is a viral load however I have found the attitude very disconcerting.
