Groin strain left me frustrated

Hi.

So after my run Sunday I realised I had a groin strain. I could barely walk! However, it felt better by Tuesday so decided to walk and have a small jog. It felt fine during that, but hours later I felt it again.

I am expecting you all to remind me to be patient (not my strong point) and that running (week 7, run 1 completed this time around) with mild cerebral palsy and mild ME is worth celebrating in itself, but I have the bug and all I want to do is be injury free so I can run again.

Feeling a bit deflated and fed up at the moment.

Me too! Calf strain, I could cry a 1000 tears I’m W9 R1. Pulled it Sunday, rested 2 days and it went again 10mins in today 😢 so deflated, running doesn’t come easy for me but I’m am so addicted.

Sorry, can’t be more positive 🤣 apart from you’re not on your own and well done for working through your illnesses 💪 you are right, that in itself is incredible you should be immensely proud x

Running doesn't come easily to me either...my lungs always let me down (not enough to stop me completing each run, although I have noticed my lungs cope for much longer than they used to) and I go a gorgeous beetroot red which stays for hours afterwards (trouble with being very pale skinned) and dripping wet - such a good look! However, I enjoy it and the fitness side and the weight loss (only want to lose another stone having lost half a stone so far).

Glad we are not alone but hoping we will be fit again in a few days. Let me know how your recovery goes.

I learnt something yesterday to do before you run and that was to take a big breath in and hold it for as long as you can before slowly blowing it low and long back out - repeat 5 times before you run and it will set you up for that initial lung shock for when you set off (I always sound and look like I’ve not ran before) anyway I tried it this morning and whether it was psychological or not I’m sure it worked...

I’ve no advice on how to try and stop the beetroot red though 🤣 I call it runners face!

I put on so much weight over the last 18 months before realising I was peri menopausal although I’ve always been a avid walker and I have a fairly healthy diet as I’m a passionate home cook and love mostly ‘clean food but sadly I’ve not lost any weight nor particularly changed shape so that makes it’s hard mentally to keep going on the days I’m not as enthusiastic..

Not seeing visual results is hard but I know it must be helping with my health and I like the feel of it when I’ve finished.

Blimey, sorry I’ve had a coffee and seem to have verbal *********

Yes, keep in touch and compare recovery ☺️

Last time I completed C25k was just before my hysterectomy (was already peri-menopausal then and strangely the hysterectomy seems to have halted the menopause!), 3 years ago...then after recovery I never went back to any excercise. I put on a good couple of stone in those 3 years...just add rubbish regularly on top of the healthy food.

Now I am back to healthy foods 99% of the time and have cut my portion sizes (which were always huge as my parents can eat for British and stay slim!)

Yes, your heart must be feeling much happier, healthier and stronger as will your other organs. You must have increased muscle, too, which is better weight than fat.

I had groin pains and my physio told me to lay on my stomach for at least half hour, and it got rid of the pain due to the cerebral palsy.

Brilliant! It has stopped now, but if I get it again, I will try that. Thank you so much
