Just a question to be sure I’m not going to do any damage to myself.
I know I need a ‘rest day’ between runs. Does this mean ‘do nothing’ or is a 3 mile walk OK? I’m only on week 2, so nothing to strenuous at the minute.
Thanks.

Hi Reggit, since day one if the programme (I’m now on week 7) I have walked on my rest days. Normally do between 3 and 5km, but have done up to 12. I find it helps stretch my calves out without overdoing it.
Thanks Marv, I started off by walking at lunchtimes to build my fitness whilst I’m stuck working from home, before venturing on the C25K program.
I think I’m starting to get the bug, don’t know if it’s early for it to arrive. Fancy going out again now, but know I’ve got to wait til Wednesday. A little stroll tomorrow lunch might set the pangs aside for the rest of the day haha!
If you read the guide to the plan you will see the advice that any non impact exercise on rest days is considered beneficial............along with a lot of other useful stuff.
Hi, I’m on week 8 and am not a runner. I’m used to doing long walks although not particularly fast walks. I’m doing the same route of my walks as the C25K programme but often extend the walks so may be out for 2hours. I don’t think it is having any adverse impact on my running progress- I’m a slow runner .
I’m doing similar, but live in a hilly area. So far managed to get the 5 minute walks on the worst of these, I’m getting perilously close to another at the halfway point where I turn round. Going to have to face them in the next couple of weeks as the distance gets longer. Not sure I’ll be able to run up one of the rutted overgrown public footpaths. I’ll work that out when the time comes, of find a different route 😂
I’m on W3 R2 and I usually try to walk 5K on my rest days. It’s working out ok and actually stretches out any tight muscles from the day before! Good luck and keep going! 💪🏼
