Was wondering how everyone deals with playing sport/doing other exercise on rest days. For instance I’m playing cricket on Saturdays so not running over weekend but would Friday be ok? Then I can run Monday, Wed, Fri every week. Otherwise it feels like I’m down to two runs a week.

I’ve just finished W7 & I do the NHS strength & Flex podcast on rest days. I also do Pilates & Salsa (not together!) once a week. Do loads of walking too. I find it all works well together, but I do all it fairly steadily. 😺
Thanks Queen Tea that all sounds sensible. I feel I perhaps should have gone today now. Cricket albeit a bit of running isn’t overly strenuous. Will look at scheduling the three runs in Monday, Wed and Fri going forward - thank you
I would think a run Fri and cricket sat would be good - can’t beat a bit of weekend cricket and you can also have an extra slice of cake for tea with all your weekly running 🙃
Rest days are from impact exercise........ not exercise in general.
I don't think that cricket can be classified as an impact sport, so, as the guide to the plan says, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it will do you more good than harm.
On my rest days from running I relax, put my feet up and watch TV for 18 hours a day, hah, only kidding, seriously I do yoga, I have been a cyclist for a long time so I go a cycle run, not too far, I think that helps a lot in running as well. I have a set of kettlebells and do a 5-minute work out most days with them. Of course as well as all that I go for a daily walk practically every day, it is tempting on my non-running days now to go for a quick jog especially when I see other runners out for their daily run, but I do not yield to temptation and take off for a run as the rules of C25K are strict and says that you must only run 3 times a week as part of the program.
