I’m amazed I have just completed wk5 r2 so pleased with myself, such an achievement , never thought I would get this far!

However I am dreading my next run a straight 20 mins seems such a jump with no breathing space in between .

Does anyone have any tips or advice to help me get through this one please ?

C25k is a training plan that is designed to get you running for thirty minutes.........you did know that, didn't you?

So why would you dread running for twenty minutes?

This breakdown of W5 will help, I hope and you may benefit from following the link in that post to the one about mental approach healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Relax and believe in yourself.

Well done for getting to week 5. I am on week 5 too and have suffered a little setback so I am repeating it. I am feeling the jump from 8 to 20 minutes is big but I bet you were feeling like 8 minutes was a long time to run when you started the programme; I know I did.

Have faith in yourself. Run to your own pace and remember to keep your breathing deep and regular. As with all the runs so far, it is a mental test as well as a physical one. You have got this far so you can do it. Keep believing

Thank you , yes I did feel 8 mins was going to be difficult but I have sort of convinced myself it’s the 5 min walk in between runs that lets me catch my breath before the next run. I do it tho & now trying to mentally prepare for the 20 min run .

Slow, slow, slower!!😄

I found it helpful to think “I could go faster but I’m choosing not to.”

I also broke down the time in my mind - “I’ve done 5 mins, I can do that again” etc

Lastly, favourite music to dance along to (ish!) - “I can run to this track...”

Good luck! 😄
