Hey everyone! About to start week 2 and I have just been reading through some others comments and wondered about my speed, I made the typical mistake of going too fast when I first started back running and had back pain and knee aches so had to stop for a full week so I am aware of the need to slow down but was wondering if shuffling along at the end is really running? Does it “count”‘so to speak??oh and my “pace” on my Polar Flow app is between 18 min mile and 12 if I’m working very hard , if that makes sense! Thanks

Your pace is your pace and as long as you can speak full, ungasping sentences as you run, as explained in the guide to the plan, then you are doing great.
Do you want to compare yourself to a twenty year old male, an 83 year old female, a middle aged runner with chronic asthma or someone with ME and fibromyalgia.............they are all on this forum, jogging at their pace.
Compare yourself to the only important comparison.......your former, pre C25k self...........the numbers mean nothing.
Ok I feel
Suitably chastised now,
I did hear that about the ungasping sentences but worries about not putting in enough effort to prepare my body for the ever increasing times of running thanks for the reply and im going to TRY to stop comparing myself as I understand logically that comparison is the thief of my happiness! Xx
It’s the getting out and moving that counts so keep at it 😊
Concentrate on stamina/strength first and the speed will come later of its own accord. The majority of us on here are runners, not racers, so our speed is just whatever it happens to be.
Looking at it another way, the slower you run, the more time you have to enjoy the scenery...
Oh I like that! Slow down and look around as I do that when I’m walking, locely green spaces, however it makes for fun jogging upo and down and all around ha
