Hi, this is my first post - I've just completed week 4. I'm so amazed I have got this far and am actually enjoying it! I have felt tired on a couple of runs but now make sure I'm well hydrated before each run, it really helps. I'm 58 and have never run before so was a bit apprehensive as to whether I could do this. I've reading other people's posts and have been truly encouraged by them. I'm hoping I can carry on as am feeling really great.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
I am just ahead of you by just starting week 5 earlier in the rain! I am also in my 50s and struggled to do 60 seconds on week 1. I agree this forum is excellent for motivating me and love reading all the comments, very encouraging. I have started listening to podcasts on my runs as find this distracts me from what I am actually doing...working so far 😊
Hi, yes podcasts are a good distraction. I also tried my first one yesterday. ☺
Well done! I'm similar to you , I'm 59 never ran in my life and I'm on week 7 . Managed to run for 25minutes yesterday. Couldn't believe it! The programme really does work even though I doubted it at first 😂. Keep up the good work and good luck 👍
I’m at the same stage and also a new runner in my 50’s. 😀 Amazing feeling and this forum is so supportive! 😊 Roll on week 5! Can’t wait! Here’s to another great week. 😁👍🏃♀️
Hi, I’m a new runner too, in my 60’s, 63 today to be exact! I’ve just finished week 7. Start week 8 tomorrow, rest day today which was good timing, especially since the weather is foul. Just enjoying brunch delivery courtesy of the children and grandchildren who all live hundreds of miles away. But I’m raring to go tomorrow on week 8. (Just hope the weather improves) I too struggled with week 1 and am amazed that I’m getting through the programme and the end is in sight.. Stick with it
