I have been sidelined in week 8 with hip and ongoing inner left knee pain. It’s beginning to get me down now after three weeks and one trial run where I thought I was ok but exacerbated at again -I will be back to square one and was so motivated to finish ! I have been questioning how long I should wait before perhaps seeing a doc especially in current COVID climate I would feel like a time waster ! Have been icing daily ibruprofen sometimes with knee and hip flexor exercises and walking when I can as most sites say keep moving after first few days . Have ordered a knee support
Anyone else recovered from similar and how ? How long might it take ? Do I pain relief and run through it or rest until zero or mild enough
Sorry for long post - am sat on a bench in the sunny common enviously seeing people jogging and running - and I NEVER thought I would say envy😀😀

A friend of mine told me his son, who is a GP, has been far less busy during the recent period and running with a dodgy knee is far more likely to exacerbate it than getting some appropriate course of action.
Saw my physio on Wednesday. He recommends strengthening all the muscles in the legs : squats, lunges, heel raises etc and stretching after :quads, IT band, calf muscles, hamstrings ..... hip, knee, ankle alignment is really important and watching how you hit the ground.....maybe this will help you. It certainly helped me. Good luck 😉 I ran today no probs and no real stiffness in my legs after. I’m on wk7 run 3 on Sunday!
I get really bad inner knee pain- my physio friend told me it was pes anserine bursitis. I get a bit of swelling on the inside of the knee as well. This time a week ago after a run I literally could not walk and thought it would be weeks before I got back. However I took a few days off, got some voltarol ( the strong joint one) from Amazon, took naproxen ( basically very strong ibrufen) and tried week 7-3 very very slowly. Yes my knee hurt, but not too badly- it actually hurts far more when I do the walking warm down. This morning I did week 8-1, again resisting the urge to speed up which was annoying, but despite the somewhat painful warm down I was fine. Even more amazingly, within about half an hour of finishing, I had no knee pain at all!! So for me, super slow with very short strides is getting me through. I know you should wait for injuries to get better but in my case I just want to complete the programme ASAP. There is a very good video on YouTube for the exercises you need to do for your knee if you are interested. I started them a few days ago. Best of luck and rest assured it will improve!! youtu.be/01MPxl-azVI
Thank you SO much for the time you took to help and give advice it’s made me more determined to not give up and to get this cracked . ! Exercises first as advised methinks .... Good luck with your runs also and hopefully see you out the graduation side !
