Post graduation runs

Hello all. I completed the programme a couple of weeks back and am continuing to run for 30 mins every other day.

It’s now reached the stage though where motivation is dropping, it’s become a chore and hard work because of that.

Does anyone have any tips for keeping the motivation up? New goals to aim at? Another programme to try?

Thank you.

Really don’t know as I’m on week one but how about trying to get someone els involved in your running, this is something that I’m trying as we can motivate each other.

Have you read the guide to post C25k running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Maybe you need to look in on the May Consolidation Club, designed for those who are feeling a bit lost post C25k healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Are you recording your runs? I use Runmaster and I find seeing the stats of a run really encouraging. Could you try a new route, a little longer time - 5 minutes say? There is a bridge to 10 k programme here also. But what great progress you have made so keep it up! Also, when things back to normal, Parkrun?

What is the bridge to 10k programme please? That sounds like a good next step

It’s on this app. Or look up Juju on here, it is her plan. We’re in Couch to 5k forum, look up Bridge to 10k forum.

I am here too ... i am still using the podcast and repeating the last run with a different commentator each time ... i was thinking about adding 5 minutes each week to build up the distance a bit or starting from the beginning again and running faster in the running bits to try and build up pace as i am

Still quite slow!

Listen to a pod cast or audio book to take your mind else where on your run maybe...

I’m not as far along as you , but already boredom is my enemy . I have found that running in woodland or along rivers and canals really helps me mentally . My mind is occupied by the deer , birds , fish that I see and my eyes are engaged watching for puddles and roots to avoid .

Music DOESNT help either , talkSPORT does ! Listening to variable conversational radio rather than predictable music keeps my mind off what my body is doing .

Hope that helps ...

This is very familiar! Why not try the C25k+ podcasts? There is one that does cadence training, another does interval training and a third that takes you to 35 mins running. I've been doing them for a few weeks now and I feel like they are building me up. Im now doing the Bridge to 10k timed version where you just build up to running for 60 minutes.

I would definitely look at Rigpig's post on this though - its definitely made me reassess what I'm doing and I may not go much further when I hit 5k - probably at around 40-45 mins.

Good luck and keep posting!
