1st post graduation run today, had three days off due to work & other commitments. When my 30 minute time was up it stilI felt good just keeping it nice n steady. 2.87 miles done and I’m really happy with that.
I was thinking hard about motivation and what keeps people going ? My motivation is that 10 weeks ago I could have only dreamt about this but a bit of hard work and planning and I am at this stage ! It’s becoming a way of life right now and something I am enjoying. I don’t worry if I look daft running, if my body is straight, arched over or my butt is sticking out - just enjoy and reap the rewards !
My next runs are pencilled in for Thursday and Saturday which I will just keep to 30 mins and see how I go.
Enjoy and keep well everyone x

Yes it was a good run that felt comfortable too - I was worried that maybe I would find it a struggle towards the end but it was exactly the opposite. A bit of a slog halfway but at the end I had a bit of energy left in the tank. Yep I think I look odd as a runner 🏃♂️ hahaha I guess I just want my body to settle down now that I am doing this, get used to what I’m doing now before advancing either speed or distance.
Nice one Mark! Well done with keeping up the 30 minute run! I thought I would really struggle with motivation once I'd graduate. But I'm finding the opposite! I've done a few runs straight after work! Got changed at work and drove to one of my usual running spots and just done it! I've had the radio on in the car on the way and when I run I just continue to listen on my phone.
Hiya Ali, I’m fine thanx, glad to hear your doing well and hope your ok x
Glad you have managed to keep up the running after work - planning when your going to do it I think is paramount and as your doing really well you must feel great - I love listening to music while I’m running radio or downloads - it’s just so nice being up and about while there’s no one else about - Ive had a few near misses with dogs in the towpath lol. My plan is to do another week of 30 minute runs, then if it’s still feeling comfortable just extend no more than the 10% rule gradually to eventually do 5k. I don’t know if I would ever be able to do a 10k so for now the 5k is a reasonable amount to aim for and then see how things go. I’m quite conscious about getting injured so would rather just keep it sensible. I was hoping to go out tomo morning but after the day indoors working at mums, I’m feeling raw haha.
