Social disapproval ...

Looking at social media it seems like runners are really not popular at present. I’m just wondering how everyone’s dealing with this? I’m observing social distancing, often running into the road etc but I’d prefer not to have to stop altogether.

I've been getting up at dawn, or running on our shingle beach where there are fewer people about; and I've been doing a lot of working out indoors! I reckon that by the time we come out of this I'm going to be super-duper fit 😄

But also, I don't worry about having to stop every now and then to let people get past me safely. Even those doing C25K can stop if need be - just pause the app, then start it again when you can run. Yes, you will get a bit of an extra breather - celebrate that! Then run 😊😊😊

Pandemic or not, there will always be some people who don't get runners, don't worry about it though! Just be your best runner: Smile, be polite, keep your distance, don't ever spit, and stop if you need to xxx

They can disapprove away. We’re allowed out 🤷‍♀️ If they don’t like it they can stay in 😁. Folks taking exercise is a good thing. Don’t be put off

I simply run. I never cared what people think of me, now is no difference. If l see someone walking towards me, I'll make a loop and run past. Are we not popular? I don't care.

I suppose I aim for the middle ground between not caring what people think & caring too much. I mean I’m aware of other people’s needs, I don’t think the pavement belongs to me but I’d like to carry on running without upsetting people.

Well, l respect social distancing and won't come near anyone, will cross the road when running if necessary so, basically, I do as I'm told and stay out of their way.

What others think and how they see me, l genuinely have no time for. Life's too short for that.

I just get out of the way (rather than wonder who will) & smile at everyone who makes eye contact - most people smile back. 😄

I’ve been saying “morning!” to people when jogging past them in their gardens etc. Mainly as I’m living alone and need some sort of daily interaction ha but guess it helps combat the bad impressions!
