Educating Enid - Take a break from your mobile phone during social distancing.

Nelle, the Caring Fairy, visited my "inner ego", Enid, to turn off her mobile phone during social distancing.

Sometimes you need a break from digital connection to reconnect with yourself.

By spending too long trying to keep in touch with everyone you can miss an opportunity for some space.

This even meant running with no music today but wow it feels good!

Thank you so much, Willow and Sola. I normally do too but the battery went on my ear phones (or Nelle did her little trick) and next minute I was in silence. 😎👍🏃‍♀️

I’ve come off Facebook and that’s made a big difference, since the virus pandemic, today is the first day without and it I feel amazing, I needed that time off phone and social media until I get better mentally , I can focus on real life and training , rather than obeying on my phone lol . Some good advice thank you x

NilsamGraduate in reply to JenT88

Oh JenT88, well done. It rather sucks you in, doesnt it? Just a break is brilliant. Then a rationed connection time...with friends (for me that includes this platform). 🌈👍

That's fantastic nilsam golden silence during running it really tunes you in to yourself 👍👍

It does rather, doesn't it? The feet on the pavement become the pulse. (Although my pulse was probably faster.) 🦋🏃‍♀️

Nelle the caring fairy is v wise. She must be a great help to keeping Enid in balance. Thanks as always for sharing your inner world.

Thank you so much, dieOR5k. I appreciate your support. Most of the time I think I must be "potty" and others may think so too. But luckily this is anonymous...🙃👍Tee hee.

But potty is so much fun, especially as you share it. There really are a lot of crazy people about, we just put our normal masks on for the general public so as not to scare the timid.

Love it. 😎👍🙃

Another lovely picture Nilsam! Of course Nelle is completely right!

I'm glad you enjoyed your run!

I have lost my motivation and am not really going out because of the eerie newbies- I will maybe run tomorrow 🤔

Roxdog profile image
RoxdogGraduate in reply to Roxdog

Not eerie newbies - eebie jeebies -is that even how you spell it! 😂

Plus my daily outing for exercise is tending to be to my allotment! Growing things is very therapeutic and there is always the monstrous treadmill!

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to Roxdog

I think the allotment is brilliant and I was thrilled today to see a top of a beetroot seedling (grown in shed with a window). So therapeutic, I agree.

First time running this week as I have been walking with husband as my one time out. Difficult decision.

At least the treadmill is there if you fancy it. Happy running if you go tomorrow. 🏃‍♀️👍🌈

I think I liked the eerie newbies...New runners? 🏃‍♀️😘

That’s SO hilarious!!!! I read the original post and thought “eerie newbies”?!?! That sounds an unusually judgmental comment to find on C25K forum” 😳

I am now laughing my head off at your correction!! 🤣🤣🤣 happy running Roxdog

Sorry to hear you are not feeling the motivation to run. But it isn't everything is it? (Am I allowed to say that here?)

It is all about your overall health. Take care. 👭👍

Nelle and Enid packed their trunks and....

Nope Enid lacks a syllable!

Love your paintings Nilsam and the lovely sentiments as always. I love quirky and different - makes life way more interesting. Keep up the great posts!

Thank you, Oldfloss. 👍

Great! Nelle has the right idea. I ran without music for the first time on my consolidation run yesterday. My husband, who ran with me, pointed out it would be a bit unsocial of me if I was wired for sound when we were suppoed to be running "together". Point taken and he was right. It was lovely to hear all the birds and to natter a bit as we ran along.

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to

Oh I love that. And that is true. Next move is to be able to chat to him and run as well. Or does that count as multi tasking. 🙃🌈

I love my music, it helps to keep me sane. Definitely not using Facebook much now. It seems to be full of people telling me to stay at home, or wondering how far from home they can run and get away with it. Then the two groups argue. 😔

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to Speedy60

Facebook has its place....far far away. 🌈🌱🌼🥀🌸💐🦋Then I get tempted and it creeps back onto the sofa. 🤯🙃

Speedy60 profile image
Speedy60Graduate in reply to Nilsam

I have a couple of friends/ old work colleagues that I only keep in touch with on Facebook. I like to check in with them, especially as they're teachers trying to teach remotely. I only do it once a day now. Got to stay sane .

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to Speedy60

I think that is perfect. 👀That is exactly the way it should be used...and I would love to have that discipline. But if I dip in, I find myself watching craft videos then reading ...then I have lost an hour. 🙈

Roxdog profile image
RoxdogGraduate in reply to Speedy60

Oh I even gave up my quite friendly allotment group recently and hardly look at Facebook. There are better and nicer things to do - like all us VRBs!

Yup...you are right. Hope all is well with you, Wenderwoo, and the training plan is going well. 👭👍

Wenderwoo profile image
WenderwooGraduate in reply to Nilsam

Er um, unfortunately not.....no excuses, I’ve been in a bit of a doldrums since being advised not to go out at all. But I’ve done a bit of gardening, some laps of the house, some drawing - so not all bad. Next week I WILL get my arse 😳 into gear 😂

Roxdog profile image
RoxdogGraduate in reply to Wenderwoo

So you've actually done quite a bit Wenderwoo!

The garden has been a refuge this week!

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to Wenderwoo

It is just as important, actually more important, to stay safe and well. X

Yes. Getting a bit addicted. Running sans music? Am I ready yet?

Nilsam profile image
NilsamGraduate in reply to Comfortnotspeed

It certainly works with birds around and the sun out. 😎In the pouring rain, last month, I needed old rock music. ⛈🎶
