Week 9 completed despite HF diagnosis 😁 Speed and Pace what's the difference?

Really happy and still amazed I managed to complete the challenge having been diagnosed with systolic heart failure just after I started the programme. I'm feeling much stronger and fitter and am slowly building up my distance (4.5km so far) I still slow jog which really worked for me and the programme has been life changing and life saving πŸ™‚ I just had a quick question- what is the difference between speed and pace when tracking my progress? Thanks πŸ™‚

Well done on your progress.

Speed is measured as distance divided by time. eg. 5 miles per hour, 5mi/h

Pace is measured as time divided by distance. eg 6 minutes per kilometre, 6m/k

Ok I've got it now. Thanks for explaining πŸ™‚

When making comparisons it is better to use the same units and distance, so the example converted to metric is:

Speed is 8 kilometres per hour, 8 km/h

Pace is 7.5 minutes per kilometres, 7.5 m/km

You can now easily see that pace and speed necessary for a C25K objective of 5km in 30 minute your targets are:

A running speed of 10 km/h at a pace of 6 m/km.

Thanks! It's really helpful to have a target to work towards πŸ™‚ I'm determined to get to 5k and do a park run one day πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I take your point, but have no idea whether the OP uses metric or imperial measurements.
