I am massively over weight but started this doing week 1 in my garden, thought I’d try week 2 on a football pitch near my house but really struggled with sore shins & walked most of it, thinking of going back to week 1 to get my confidence back

Feeling gutted
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Ahhhh dont be gutted , at least you did it... well done
i cant run on grass / mud so i stick to the roads
Ive asked for hints / support with shin splints as mine are also hurting.
Ive read that if you slow down it helps so will be trying that on my next outing.
Keep going... Youve got this
Thanks for the support, hopefully today was just a bad day
When I went through C25K the first time, I did the first run in my garden and I moved outdoors for the rest. I really noticed the difference, It was more difficult for some reason. Like someone else said, running on grass is a lot harder so I would stick to pavements or tracks if possible. Also maybe slow down and keep well hydrated. If you managed week 1, there's no need to repeat it, repeat the run that you've just done. And even though it's difficult when you're not feeling at your most confident, don't be scared of it, sometimes we just have an off day but that doesn't mean that the next run will feel the same. Good luck with the rest of your runs, you'll see, in a few weeks you'll find it hard to believe the progress you've made! 👣👣👣
Hey well done for starting week 2. I’ve heard that running on grass is harder but my best advice is to slow down, take it steady ... it’s not a race. I’m also overweight and know how you are feeling. Stick with the programme and you will get there.
Hi Kecks79
Don’t be disheartened.
Google Slow Running and there’s a really interesting YouTube video.
This is my second time around on C25K, and I now realise I was trying to run too quickly for my ability.
Keep at it and if you feel like it, repeat weeks until you feel ready to move on.
Good luck!
