The little people have been working their magic again......

There is a lovely family somewhere near to where I live, who are making the most of lockdown and bringing a smile to the faces of the locals in the process.

This morning I set out on my second run since injury (8th consolidation run). I am still using intervals, gradually increasing the runs and reducing the walks to build up to a continuous run when I feel ready. It was relatively quiet out, with just one couple out walking, a few guys working at the local tractor dealer/repair centre down the lane and a handful of dog walkers.

I headed out to my peaceful woodland tracks where I discovered the trail of hearts that I posted about a few weeks ago, all decorated with handwritten tributes to the NHS or encouraging words of motivation to all. Today I saw that the little hearts have grown in number, with one huge heart painted on a wooden board and wrapped in cellophane to protect it from the elements. This large heart is perched in the fork a small tree at the start of the trail. Further along I noticed brightly coloured little fairy doors nestled on the ground at the foot of some of the trees and brilliantly painted baubles hanging from nearby branches.

There has always been something about fairy doors in this woodland; very intricate pottery ones were placed further up the hill when my children were small and they used to love wandering through the trees, our two faithful little Westies pottering after them as they hunted them out. My two children were intrigued when these doors seemed to move and reappear elsewhere, as though the fairies had moved house and taken their doors with them. At Christmas time the branches above the doors were often decorated with tinsel and little baubles.

The pottery doors have disappeared gradually over recent years but now, curtesy of new busy little people, new ones are appearing. Fairy doors seem to be something of a local tradition around here.

Today I interrupted my run to take photos of the fairy doors, baubles and hearts as I found them, so that I could share them with my now teenage children when I got home.

Happy running everyone. Keep safe πŸ’•πŸ’™πŸŒ² πŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈ πŸŒ³πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ πŸ’›

Isn't it just? I hope this little family know that they are bringing smiles to people's faces. 😊

Beautiful DD that surely must warm the hearts of anyone and everything, and worth interrupting your run to take photos πŸ€—

What a magical morning you've had. People are doing such lovely things. Someone near me are painting stones with rainbows and sunshine with little messages for you to move them somewhere else so others see them. It's amazing the kindness and selflessness we can share β˜€οΈπŸŒˆ

Rainbow rocks - that sounds lovely. I hope that these little touches continue 🌈😊.

What a lovely sense of continuity in life, for your local community and for you personally with your family. How very precious that continuity seems in times of crisis. Thank you for sharing with us all this little piece of local history, we all need a bit of fairy magic right now.

Great that you’re back running again after injury, ...I’m learning that running is also about our not running times and they too have something to teach us. πŸ€—

Hi Mrs Jorge. I'm taking things steady and I'm not rushing to cover the distance, but it is good to be running again, albeit slowly. My garden has benefitted from my not running for two weeks and I have found I've slowed down a touch and spent some time sitting in the garden rather than just working in it, which has been really nice. How are your runs going or are you also taking some time out?

That sounds good, spending time sitting enjoying your garden rather than working in it, something I need to do much more,.... I’ve just run this morning for the first time in 2 and a half weeks as I’ve been ill, I think with gastritis, ...it’s so good to know I can still run as I was worried I’d lost it! πŸ€—

Oh that’s rotten but I’m glad you have recovered and rediscovered your running legs. Keep well. 😊🌸

That is so magica, Delly-dot. It is wonderful that this family is bringing such joy to others and of course having fun at the same time. What fabulous memories that they are laying down. Your family too, will be able to remember such happy childhood times. Beautiful photographs as always. 🌼🌱🌈
