About to head out for my first run of week 6. I’ve been given a heads up about getting caught out (thanks AlMorr!) but not really sure I know what to look out for. Any help/tips greatly appreciated!

Hi ninky3, I think what caught me out was the euphoria of finishing week 5, run 3. Mentally I got a bit ahead of myself, I began researching how I could keep running after the course was over. 10Ks? Half marathons? Full marathons?! :)

But then when I got out there and started my first five minute run, my body reminded me that I was still a newbie and it was my mind getting a bit delusional. Which brought me back to Earth. Just take it slow and remember there's still 3 weeks left of the course so not to get too ahead of you. And keep going at a slow pace. You'll be great though, you've now jogged for 20 minutes!

Hi! Thank you dora for this; super helpful. Ok so we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves but i like the intention of I Can that it comes from :)

Will be sure to keep it slow and steady, I feel less nervous now after reading this. Hope your running journey is going great!

Yes, we have to keep remembering that we can do it, even though a month ago we'd never believe it! Thank you, am only a couple of runs ahead of you. Heading out for my 25 minute jog tomorrow :)

Exact same with me! Finished Week 5 day 3 and did better than I thought I would. I then bought beginners guide to your first marathon. 3 days later I am struggling with week 6 day 1, questioning whether I can finish the last 5 minute run! I struggled harder on that one than any other. Today is Week 6 day 2, kinda concerned...

Don't shelve the guide, you will come back to it before you know it, but till then let's pace ourselves...on every level :)

You struggled but you made it, right? You got through W5, R3 and W6, R1 which means you've got what it takes to get through today's run. You can do it! We are cheering you on!

Thanks for the cheers, and same back at you!! I made it through, it was mentally and physically hard. My diet has been terrible this week, I think that has a lot to do with it.

The main thing is to just get outside with my running shoes on, once I am out there I am ready!

Woop woop you did it! The thing is, these are challenging times and it's hard to do it all under these circumstances so don't be too harsh on yourself. Tomorrow is a new day and another chance to eat right :)

That's it, getting out there is sometimes the toughest bit, but we got this!!
