So, I avoided running in the bitter east winds we've had, and couldn't put off the run any longer.
I got into my running gear then into my car, stopped off at my local baker's for some yummy bread and treats (sshhh don't tell anyone!) Then I went for a run along a very long residential road nearby.
I managed 4 lots of 6-minute runs, with 1m45sec walking intervals. I can tell you that the warmer I got, the longer those six minutes got too! (You won't find these times in the program, I'm building up the timings slowly on advice from my physio, so no sudden w5r3 for me! It all felt a bit eerie to be honest, I stepped into the road a couple of times to avoid people but it was mostly deserted. Whereas the deserted trail I run in normal times is suddenly choc full of families out walking! Enjoyed my naughty fresh pastie when I got home, and sat in the garden and enjoyed the blossom.

Yep, those east winds cut right through you. Yesterday was my comeback run and I couldn't believe the temperature. It was perfect; not boiling, but still warm enough to walk home in shirt and shorts without shivering. I think that comebacks are uplifting once you have a plan to follow. You have had a long time out, but you are fixing a problem which would have been a persistent pain in the bum (and elsewhere) so this is definitely investment time; and the pasties? Positive reinforcement and a medical necessity, an essential part of any recovery programme. Heal quickly but systematically Grumps.
Nice one GOG - a great comeback run for you! I agree with you about running routes - one of my normal roads is normally completely devoid of people when I run along it but this morning I was having to slalom my way round masses of them! Go away - this is my road!! Happy running!
Well done Grumpyoldgirl, so good to hear you are starting back up again . I’m hoping to join you in a couple of weeks so don’t go to far ahead. Such a lovely day today too.
Three policemen were trying to clear people off the beach while we were doing our afternoon walk, such a thankless task for them.
Yay Dexy, so glad you're almost ready to run, that's great news! Poor policemen, must be like trying to herd cats in weather like this. I bet they feel really mean having to do it too.
I’m sure they’d rather be dealing with real criminals. I think the council need to put signs along the prom, like the distancing ones and then people know that they are not to sit there. My biggest gripe is those who cycle on the prom when people are trying to stay apart. The trouble is , the police have to Do it to see people on the beach so it’s difficult to Then tell other cyclists off.
