Week 9 Run 1

So yesterday was my first 30 minute solid run! I’m not going to lie I absolutely smashed it! Did my best ever pace in my 1st mile since starting this programme and I felt so good and accomplished for finishing it! My left foot was feeling a bit stiff before the run so wasn’t sure if I would make the run but I smashed through it and by the end of the run my foot was feeling better than before I started! I’m so proud of myself I definitely couldn’t run this long 9weeks ago!

If any of you newbies are sitting there thinking “I’m never gonna be able to run for 30 minutes solid” I’m telling you now, if you follow the programme I 100% can assure you, you will run for 30 minutes! It won’t be easy your mind and body will go through the ranks as you push through every stride of every minute! But I’m telling you now the minute your coach says “you’ve done it - you can warm down walk now” you will feel the biggest relief yet accomplishment you’ve probably ever felt!! It’s a long way yet but keep going you’ve got this and everyone is with you! 🙌🏼❤️

Some bits of advice:

make sure you drink plenty water before and after your run, eat something light before your run and a banana is definitely a good call after a run!

Early morning runs are amazing! Especially if it’s still a bit cool in the air and no one but the birds and sun are about (or no sun if it’s winter and cold)

A good playlist that lifts your spirit makes you smile and makes you want to move your body and legs 🦵🏼 choose songs that aren’t too slow but aren’t too fast and makes sure it’s gonna last your whole run and some!

Also to wind down after a long day and even more so after you run or on your days off some yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️ 🧘🏼‍♂️ or even a meditation and a nice relaxing bath 🛁

GOOD LUCK 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼👌🏼🙌🏼❤️

Well done for reaching week nine, the graduation badge is waiting for you. I would add to your advice that you should drink plenty all the time, not just before and after a run. Personally I don't like to eat anything before a run.

Enjoy the rest of the week :)

Thank you!! 🏆 🏅 🏃🏼‍♀️😍🥰

Yes drinking water regularly is essential but if you drink enough before a run (as in your body is hydrated) it can help you to not get a stitch (Jo Wileys advice to be fair, I’ve not had a stitch yet).

Some runs I don’t eat anything before hand other times I’ve had a full meal as in breakfast / dinner before the run, everyone is different ☺️again the banana 🍌 is Jo Wileys advice although I have had one after a morning run and felt pretty good after 🙌🏼👌🏼

Thanks for the added advice!
