Week 8 complete. That was tough though, my left knee was really painful. The longer runs seems to be effecting it quite a lot. Been doing stretch and strengthening exercises but the last 5 minutes today were really pretty sore. Going to maybe take a couple of rest days between runs for week 9 and see how I go. Almost there though 😊

Extra days without running will let it ease Sarah 👍👍

Well done.

There is advice on minimising impact in the guide to the plan that may be worth rereading.

The obvious question is what are your shoes like?

Just trainers so I've ordered some better running shoes. Going to get any fitted at the moment isn't likely to happen but hopefully different shoes will help. I'll take another look at the guide too thank you.

Well done! I get sore knees too on longer runs. The extra day will do you good. You are on the cusp now! Hope you recover and are able to get Week 9 in your sights.

Thank you. I'm sure I will after a couple of days rest. I avoided cross country today as it was raining so I think running on a harder surface didn't help either. The light rain was actually lovely though.

Well done, Sarah2706. You are progressing well through the programme. Sorry to hear about your knees. Advice about resting on other responses seem a good idea. Good luck for week 9. Take care.

Thank you 😊

Well done on your last run of week 8. I hope your new running shoes arrive in time for graduation week. You are right to take some extra rest days between runs; I did at this stage and it helped.

A tip for your aching knees is to try soaking in an Epsom salts bath. I was given it as a tip for sore calf muscles and it worked wonders so I have kept it up.

Well done - almost there! I think extra rest days are a good idea, I have arthritis in my knees and find 2 rest days helps me not to ask too much of my knees. So far this is working because I do not have any pain. Good luck, can't wait to see your graduation post!
