I bet you did not expect to see me here today ? I am usually so late with my posts!!Well..surprise .here I am.
I felt that after the latest BBC News announcements some of us runners might be feeling a tad low. Another three week's lock down and then after three weeks another re assessment... and the news that Social Distancing, will need to continue for some while, maybe we are a tad tense or a tad strung out maybe?
Some new advice re-exercising too, which seems quite confusing to many of us, and is not helping the situation either!
Stress is not good for us and sometimes it is really hard to try and let that go and find a calmer, clearer perspective on things... tempers flare, angry words, and often tears, before we find some way of handling things.
But.. we are strong and we will come through.
We are all having different experiences in our running and finding so many ways to keep healthy and happy and stress free.... all of which is really good for us! There is so, so, much information on all our linked forums that it is a good thing, if you have time to have a browse !
Anyway... I have linked here, all the past Off the Couch posts. Lots of advice and links there for us all.
Hooray I hear you cry !
So, you can have a read, pick out and save any you may have missed, look up links if you feel they may be useful... and generally, explore
We are a running family here... we run together, we laugh together, cry together and we support each other, always !
So helpful as ever thank you 🙏. I keep coming back to reread your links as I keep getting niggles my latest being knees! As you have suffered knee issues I knew I should start looking for strengthening exercises with you! Stay safe and know that you personally are making such a help to so many 👏👏👏
It is great to feel we are making a difference to each other Knee niggles are quite literally, a real pain... I have a recurring on at the moment and cannot work out what or why!
Yes it’s a pain!! I did knee strengthening exercises yesterday which calmed it down. Felt fab today, went for cycle and boom 💥 it’s pain again 😂😂. Look after your knee.. you have the tools 😘
Thanks for these reguar posts Oldfloss, they are really helpful and I find I come back to them and flick through the links during the week.
I'm suffering from shin splints at the moment, so have stopped running for a while. I'm enjoying Adriene's wonderful yoga, which I've introduced my teenage daughter to and it is lovely having her join me in my practice. I am resting my legs, following the RICE guidelines and doing some strengthening work to aid my recovery, but I won't rush to run until it is healed up, although I'm missing it very much.
Are the shin splints because you are running in different places currently? I ran into trouble very recently running in and from the house. Running had (eventually) cured the shin splints I had for years before I took up running and with 8 years of injury free running I was... displeased.
Fortunately NACPO and the College of Policing put out new guidance so I can now drive up the hill to safer surfaces for me with confidence again. (I'm out of the house less time than our walks and could be 'rescued' by my own household if need be) Went yesterday, less pain already.
I’m glad you are getting on better with your runs now and in less pain.
I’m running the same routes from my home, out on to the network of woodland and heathland trails on the nearby, so the surfaces are kind to run on. I think the shin splints have arisen partly from over use, although I still keep to 1-2 rest days at least, and from an old injury elsewhere which is being compensated for. My legs are already feeling better and I have a plan to ease myself back in gently when the time is right. Hopefully I will recover as well as you. Happy running GoogleMe. 😊
Thx @oldfloss. Thanks for all the motivation, which is fantastic!! I am still a newbie to this forum and I think you added me to the “Off the Couch” group. But should I be seeing this group in my ‘communities’. Not quite sure as the only group I have is “Couch25k”. Many thanks for everything.
You are most welcome... I did add you , but this is just a weekly regular post, on the C25K group.. which appears and then is popped in the pinned posts
