Hi I’m on run 1 week 9 & for the past 2-3 runs my left foot has been going numb about 20 minutes in. It stops once I finish & go into the 5 minute warm down. What should I do? My running shoes are crap so going to upgrade. Maybe it’s my gait? I’m quite flat footed...

Try slackening your laces a bit- but not so you slither about. 😄

Numbness suggests poor circulation.

Most people's feet swell when they run and now you are running for longer durations, that may be what is happening to you. This is why many have running shoes a half or full size, or mor, larger than their normal shoe size.

Try slackening your laces as Elfe5 suggests and maybe get some nice new shoes to celebrate your imminent graduation.

Also google “lacing running shoes” to find a lacing strategy that suits you. Definitely your feet are swelling as you run further, and your shoes are too tight.

Thank you both. I have invested in a good pair of trail running shoes and will think about loosening laces. Didn’t know about the getting a size bigger hmm will have a think
