Another hiatus 🙄 and I’m back!

If I carry on at this rate it might be a year before I reach the 5k but anyway, god loves a trier! Today I started up again wk2 run 3 and it was fine. A little tiring but doable even after the 2 month break. The breathing in 4 steps was difficult , I couldn’t seem to get enough air in through my nose to sustain me and kept having to mouth breathe. How did you fare with it?

Who cares though, if it takes you a year to reach 5k?! You are running and you are getting fitter and improving your health - winner!

I never bothered with breathing techniques - and still don’t 2.5 years on. I just breathe. 😁 I try and take slower, longer breaths when I am running slower, longer distances though. Just my personal opinion, but not overthinking it works for me!

Hey! Well done on getting back to it :) specially jumping back in at the end of week 2.

Honestly, I find sometimes if you focus on your breathing too much, it can become more difficult.

I know everyone’s different, but I find trying to forget about my breathing and letting my clever body sort itself out, usually works out better 🙂

The whole breathing in and out for certain steps or seconds and in through your nose and out through your mouth just doesn’t work out for me - as you say, doesn’t sustain my breathing needs.

Just do whatever feels the best, you don’t always have to follow rules if they aren’t working! 🙂

Hi scooberella I agree with others, I just let my breathing take care of itself. I found that concentrating hard on trying to match breath to my stride and only breathing through my nose jut got me gasping for air every fourth breath, not fun :-) All the best with your runs
