Headaches normal?

Hi all, I have just completed week 5 and am struggling. Every time I complete a longer run (8mins +) I finish with an awful headache. Is anyone else experiencing this or have any tips? I am probably drinking about a litre of water with each run.

Thanks in advance!

Are you making sure you are hydrated before you go for your run? If you are dehydrated it takes time to rehydrate. Are you also dizzy? It could be that you are not hydrated enough or had not eaten enough in your previous meal. Or is it hot where you are? It could be the heat. The other thing to consider is what type if headache is it, could it be related to stress, are you relaxed when you run?

I hope you can work it out so you can start enjoying your runs 🙂

Thanks, I am not hydrating much before a run so I will try that 😃

I try to make sure I am well hydrated the day before a run too. I drink a lot of tea/coffee so I have set myself a challenge of drinking a glass of water before I put the kettle on. It became a habit really quickly and I now automatically do this on the weekend too 😊

It doesn't sound normal to me. You're definitely doing the right thing drinking more water, but to be honest it may just be that you've picked up a bug that's going around. Either way, running with a headache is not going to help so try a shorter or slower run until you are confident that you can run without getting this irritating symptom.

As always, with any symptoms that go unexplained, consider phoning your doctor if they get worse.

Dehydration seems a possible cause. It's not so much drinking at the time of the run but all the time. I try and regularly (every hour or so) to have a glass of water and I am also a tea head. Have you read the guide to C25K? it tells you lots of useful stuff like this.
