Knee Problem .... advice please

Hi. I’ve got to week 3 and have come to a grinding halt!

Right knee was MRI’s about 12 months ago .... incorrectly tracking patella that’s well worn. But apart from crunchy sounding has been a dull ache.

A couple of sharp pains on w2r2 and just about managed r3 going really slowly ‘Japanese style’

Question 1.... my gait analysis was good ... a fraction of over pronation..... I’m running in Hoka Gaviotta which have max stability even I would have been ok with neutral. Is it possible that correcting/over correcting/changing alignment can actually cause more issues??

Question 2 .... today I’ve tried a pressure bandage type of support which made pain worse. I also tried a full stabilised support thinking that would sort it .... 30 seconds into warm up walk and pain was excruciating. Took the brace off and managed to get back to the house. Why are these things making it worse? Help!

In the meantime I’m doing some leg muscle building but any advice gratefully received. Gutted as I was getting into it and was seeing a good improvement in fitness in just the first 2 weeks

I run with a knee brace after injury.

Are you following all the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, all of which will help?

New shoes that support you differently can cause issues, which is why I rarely do two consecutive runs in the same pair of shoes and always alternate when breaking in a new pair.

To be honest, your issues need the intervention of a trained medic, GP or physio, rather than a bunch of well meaning strangers on the net.

Thanks for your reply. It’s been MRI’d previously so I have that and the physio exercises.

I prob do need it looking at again but until this corona thing settles down, I’m gonna have to stick with well meaning strangers 😋
