Does everyone take a rest day. With lock down I feel I want to do something every day.

Yes, I usually take a rest day, even though the temptation to run is strong. You don't want to overwork your muscles. If you want to go out try a brisk walk instead. 😊

I totally understand why you might feel this, especially at this present time but I would urge you not to ignore the rest days🙏! They are an important and integral part of the program and allow your body to recover and strengthen whilst lowering the risk of injury.

Have you looked at the pinned post on "How to run Couch to 5k"? It will answer lots of your questions, as well as giving you ideas of what you can do on those days when you are not running.

This is a good time to get in to other exercise habits which will support and improve your running and you might want to check out the 'Strength and Flex' forum too.

I have recently started yoga again and am loving the free 'Yoga with Adrienne' videos on YouTube! 😀

Well done on your progress and your enthusiasm, but I think the forum will join me in wanting to rein you in a little for your own sake.

Rest days are non-negotiable and are crucial in allowing your body to rest and repair between runs. I read on here that your muscles get micro-tears each time you run, so you really need to be careful. There are many other strengthening activities you can do on rest days that support your C25k: Pilates, yoga, walking, cycling. Check out the Strength and Flex Forum for great strengthening exercises.
