Strangely reluctant...

I find myself in a no man's land at the moment having completed week 8 last Thursday. I've been looking forwards to week 9 for such a long time but now I feel strangely reluctant to get out there and finish the job.

I've run through atrocious weather to get to this point and now the sun is actually shining. A boot up the backside is probably what i need.... Anyone else find this at the beginning of the final week?

What an achievement it’ll be to run 30 minutes non stop.....

Give yourself a good talking to and get out there. Think of the high you will get when you have run. It is hard to motivate yourself during these strange and unsettling times. You can do this 👍

Its knowing that the end is in sight, you may subconsciously be worried about what happens after you finish. The structure of the plan keeps you locked in, but it not the end it is the beginning, like learning to drive, take your test (week 9) and then be free to go where you want. There is the consolidation runs you will be given when you graduate, so get out there and get it done, get rid of the L plates and look at the next stage. Park runs, charity runs, they will all be open to you when lockdown is relaxed.

I did a little and couldn't explain it much either, beyond feeling reluctant to lose the structure of the weekly runs and the unknown of post-graduation running. You just need to get those trainers on and get out there; the feeling soon passes when you are running.

It helped me to start thinking beyond graduation and make plans for my first consolidation run- I asked my husband to run with me, our very first run together ever, in over 30 years together.

I now have a simple consolidation plan and that is helping to keep me focused and providing me with targets. I want to be ready for Parkrun when it starts up again, so I am working towards that 5k run.

Now, go get those trainers on Fionamags and post when you get back!!😉🏃‍♀️

Dolly-dot. Just because you have finished doesn’t mean you can’t relisten to the podcast. I was forever putting the last run back on. It was for reassurance more than anything else.

It’s a great sense of achievement when you get the medal at the end of C25k. If you’ve done all this hard work just imagine the pure elation that you have from completing it. I’m no seb Coe or top athlete but I do get pleasure running around my local park. When the sun is shining and the birds are singing there’s no better place to be even if I’m not looking at my best 🤣

Yes, I understand what you’re feeling, although I did force myself out. I was so nervous on the last one it was ridiculous! Get out there and enjoy it and then you can have the freedom to do what you want to 👍😁

I think that it may be more about the strange times we're in Fionamags! I know what you mean about having battled through all that weather - you're tough now and will do week 9 with confidence I'm sure.

Maybe just put your running gear out and if you can, run first thing in the morning? You might have to just go for it! Only you can make yourself do it - unless you want to risk being accountable to us on the forum 😂 bit dangerous!

I know what you mean, I’ve had more of a gap between my runs recently but I’ve just done w9R2 and feel much better for doing it. Like you I’ve worked so hard to get here but recently not finding the same level of enjoyment probably because of the current situation we’re all in but determined to finish the programme! Keep going graduation is in sight good luck 😉

Thanks all for the support. I ended up feeling a bit grotty yesterday so maybe the 'reluctance' was actually telling me that my body wasn't up for it yesterday. Feeling better today and its glorious outside so I'll see how I feel come lunch time - my usual time to run.
