Wow, first run where I felt I could go further

Went out this morn after some ups and downs with pulled calf muscles ( my silly fault , thinking I could speed up and overdoing it, what a fool) and for the first time ever since graduation I felt like I could carry on running. I had been running very very slowly and breathing easily along our beautiful seafront in Eastbourne, just as I was thinking this my calf muscle gave me a warning and I slowed to warm down walk immediately.

Now I cant wait to experience the feeling of wanting to carry on running again!

Nice one, that’s a good flat seafront to run along

We often say "Listen to your body" but it takes most of us a little while to understand the language that our body speaks.

Learning to run teaches us so much about our own amazing bodies.

Well done.

This is lovely to read. It makes you feel like you can be in control of your running. Your experience now has helped you find the right pace to breathe more comfortably . Keep stretching. Every time I go up the stairs I do calf raises and drops to stretch my achilles and calves. Both together and also alternate.

Brilliant - this is what happens with time and patience I think! So envious of those of you who are by the sea!

Yep, we are very lucky, nice runs along the front and there are woods and the south downs nearby , I feel so silly for trying to over stretch myself after graduation but it was good to learn this way I suppose, I googled japanese slow running and that gave me some tips , from now on its all slow and steady, lovin this community
