We had a new treadmill arrive today, because the missus (still talking of starting this fantastic programme) and daughter (stuck on W6 since the lockdown) cannot bring themselves to run outside, and if we're to stay in for the next few months or more, it will prove to be a good investment. Me? I tried it. First ever time on a treadmill. I didn't like it. Felt so off balance, especially after learning how to become a runner outside, on the roads. I'll stick to outside I think. So off I got and went out.
Horrible weather this evening. Not when I left the for the 5 minute warm up walk, but after 5 minutes into the run, the bracing breeze turned into blasting blizzard of icy, cold air, rain and hail, and head on (rain was not forecast).
Disappointed, cold and getting very wet, I had to turn back, I'd try again tomorrow.
Trotting towards home, the wind and hail now behind me , it stopped as quickly as it had started, so I made my mind up to keep going, just in the opposite direction. I felt so relieved; it would have been my first defeat in this whole programme and was thinking that I might not get on with the treadmill at all, it made me feel a little nauseous truth be told. Is this common?
Daughter loves the treadmill and knows that it is effectively her who is going to be using it. The missus has said, again, that she will definitely start C25K, soon. She knows the benefits it's brought me and I am so keen for her to realise them too: we just have to get her started, somehow, but that's another challenge for me 😉.
Recovery day tomorrow. I need it. It was a post on here that says just because you finished C25K, don't get ahead of yourself and think 10k or a 20 minute 5k run is doable, or just a few short runs way. I know I've got at least 2 more weeks of consolidation. Not going to get ahead of myself; slow and steady does it for me.
Keep running and keep safe fellow C25K'ers.
