Sometimes all you need is a Caring Fairy to sit on your shoulder for a while and the world seems a better place.
My "inner Enid" was feeling a little over whelmed with the constant stream of news washing over her. But she had a visit from Caring Fairy, Nelle, and that restored the calm. Sometimes we just have to take time to think through our fears before we are able carry on.
We now have time to listen to ourselves...and then go for a run!

I have booked two...🧚♀️🧚♂️👍 Thank you, we are well. Battened down the hatches with husband and daughter. I know we are very lucky to be together (and well). Ran this morning and a constitutional walk this evening at dusk with the birds tweeting. Sometimes you can forget it all. 🧚♀️
Thanks I checked the date and we have just a month and a few days to go to make the year, the difference it’s made has been huge and we still love going out for a run a couple times a week but hope to get back to three times a week with the lighter evenings
Yes, we are turning the corner with the weather, aren't we? The fact we have run through the Autumn and Winter must mean it's going to get easier. The must be some sort of medal for duration of a year. A little star next to the graduate label maybe? ☆
I was about to say the same thing. Who doesn't need a caring fairy? For myself, I think I'm going to cut back on the amount of 'news' I read at the moment. I need to know the facts, but all this commentary isn't good. Once in the morning and once in the evening for me from now on, I think.
Oh I'm not a lecturer, I work in 'quality and standards'. We're trying to keep the show on the road! I did pop to the allotment at lunchtime and ran this morning. Thank you for the beautiful drawing
Thank you again, Roxdog. 👩🎨I sm sure in Quality and Standards you certainly have your work cut out to work with awarding bodies etc to maintain standards. My hat off to you. Enjoy the allotment...I keep changing my mind on planting plan...more courgettes, potatoes and beans? Do I dig up more lawn for more onions...thinking longer term. Husband not quite as keen. 😎☘🙏
Ah well, digging up the lawn is a big step! We may all have a bit more time to grow things this spring! You can overdo courgettes! Take care and stay well.
I promise it was only a little bit of lawn 😎but you are probably right re courgettes. We were giving them out to all the neighbours at the end of last summer. Stay safe and happy. 👩🌾
That is good advice re courgettes. Did 5k this morning and I know what you mean...Can I run tomorrow? Do we need the rest day? Yes, I suppose we do. But some people run every day don't they?😎
Tee hee...it's the process not the finished product that calms the soul 🧘🏼♀️...So I am told...but I know what you mean. I know what I want to get on paper but it never looks like I had in my head. Hey ho. 🙃
I love this idea sooooooo much. Thank you Nilsam - will look out for the Caring Fairy, she is very much needed. I think she must be near here...... 🧚♀️- will post pic.......
Yes, I agree. I have stopped listening to news on the hour, talk shows (radio off) and turned off phone alerts. I have stopped my inner Enid putting her head in a bucket but you don't need it all the time, do you? We need to enjoy the Spring. 🧚♀️👀🕊🦋💐🌸🥀🌼🌱🏃♀️
You're doing the right thing, the constant updates put you under constant stress, we can only do what we are doing.
Spring is wonderful (though I like all of the seasons 😁)
I look out of my window and see houses and tarmac. I cannot put out pots as they don't stay for long. I have a tiny, slabbed, front garden in which several years ago, I lifted one slab and planted a crab apple tree. Sitting at my computer this morning I can look up and see the buds popping open on the branches and the birds visiting the food we have hung on them. I have sown thousands of seeds over many years but still, every year I sow them and then excitedly await the little green dots on the surface of the soil (I have been known to rummage around if they're big enough to handle my interruption and they're taking their time!) Even in a bad year with a garden, you can always look forward to the good things that will come again whether that is a beautiful bloom or a tasty thing to eat! 🥕🌷🍎🌳🌱😍
Thank you so much for your support, dieOR5k. (Self isolation too long and that book may actually happen 🤣).
Awww , I love that little Fairy, so calm and sensible, it’s such a struggle to achieve that at the moment, so having that small picture in mind will help keep the worry gremlins from getting out of hand.
Thank you for all your wonderful posts and for giving us Nelle.
I’ve decided to get some pencils/paints/paper out and find some relaxing time to create.... so thanks for the nudge in this direction.
Any creative activities engage a part of the brain that produces relaxation so let’s get drawing, writing, gardening, making, mending, decorating, and of course keep running when we can...🤗
So pleased you are inspired, jorge3, and thank you for your support. I would love to see your creations and I totally agree it is the creative process not the outcome that does the magic. (I have a patch work quilt worked on in the winter which I have termed my cross patch quilt...unfinished but very handy.) 👀🧘🏼♀️
Indeed, I’m not very clever with making things ( or drawing) but have been knitting squares to make cosy blankets for our cats 😺😻 and when the hands are busy the mind is calm 😊
