Not long into the run, it started to rain, light at first, then a downpour, then a constant drizzle of ice cold, needle tipped, fine rain. The great thing is though, although this was my first encounter of running in the cold and rain (no I haven't avoided it, just been lucky until now... honestly! 😉), is that in my early running days (sounds so long ago but it's only about 8 weeks!), the mind demons would have had a field day with me and I might well have submitted to them. Now though, the mind demons have been replaced by 'mind angels'. After plopping my foot into a deep-ish puddle (it was dark) early on, I thought, this is horrible, I could give up, try again tomorrow, or on a drier night, will I get foot rot? Daft I know.
But no! The mind angels said, 'No! You own this run, it doesn't own you; it's just rain, it's a wet foot , get over it... snowflake!'
I did, I loved this run - it's me now, on the home straight. Nothing can stop me (fingers crossed). My daughter is actually now on week 6 after seeing me lose weight and in the last throws of this amazing programme.
