Very tough tonight!!!

Out on my 2nd consolidation run last night in the semi dark and light drizzle and it was a new route through another one of my local forests. I’ve walked it with my greyhound and lurcher numerous times and never realised it was so up and down!!! It was really tough, my trusty Alpkit headtorch to the rescue and I could see where I was going but sections of the route were very muddy and slippery.

Another 5k ticked off, in at a shade under 34 mins so pretty good going for a night run!

Hoping to squeeze another run in by the end of the week and at the moment I’m really enjoying my 5k’ish runs in different locations, terrains and at different times. I guess I’m trying to build a bit of resilience and leg strength before moving on to a programme for 10k. I’m hoping to improve my 5k’s at the moment and see how it goes.

Great running... your title is right, you were very tough! Careful not to “improve” your 5k every run, a nice relaxed run leaves some extra in your legs for days when you want to go for a PB. Happy running.

Thanks UnfitNoMore I’m really trying hard to steady myself and enjoy my 5k’s. I guess I’m just noticing the difference between certain terrains, routes etc and getting a feel for what I need to improve on. Currently I’m trying to introduce some hills ( not hard in S Wales) to improve my fitness, develop my leg resilience by running on a variety of routes, both on and off-road. I’m not in a rush for PB’s or for that matter 10k but over the coming weeks I’ll look to up my distance and get on a plan to take me to 10k. Just enjoying being able to go for 30+mins !!
