Gutted - COVID-19 stops C25K at Week 9

My lovely group can't finish as a group!

We did Week 9 Run 1 yesterday. Some have already been overachieving and doing more than 30 minutes but now we can't meet to do W9R2 and then graduate with W9R3 at parkrun.

They can and will do it but it's not the way we hoped.

They got to this point with the help of you and your running club and I’m sure they are very grateful to you Katnap. You have given them a wonderful gift which will improve their lives.

Still trying to keep everything crossed for our favourite Saturday activity 🀞🀞🀞

I think we will all be doing freedom runs!

My approach is, do usual activities but stay 6 feet apart. I’m actually looking for a workout partner right now since my gym is closed. That’s right, I’ll take turns on home equipment and stay 6 feet apart. No touching the face, and wash hands and wipe down equipment afterwards. No big deal. It’s doable.

The same goes for running. You can meet , you chat 6 feet apart you go running 6 feet apart you stop and chat again. Would work better for smaller groups of course. Like split up into groups of three maybe four.

Absolutely! But common sense seems to have evaporated if supermarkets shelves are anything to go by!

Oh how frustrating for you and them. I know from my experience how much the Parkrun graduation delivers such a sense of achievement, and how having other runners around enabled me to keep running afterwards. Such a shame. πŸ˜•

Oh, sooooo close to seeing your lovely runners past the finish line. I can only imagine how that must feel. If there is any comfort to be had it is that you have helped to give them a great basis to physically to help them through this time. Well done. Rfc xxx

Thanks RFC. Some will carry on. Some say they'll join the next led C25K group.

That might be September or later at this rate!

It must be disappointing to get this far and have your plans changed but it's wonderful that you've got this far. They can still go on to graduate and when all of this is over, instead of graduating at parkrun, you can meet up and do a celebration run!
