This my sound like an obvious question but I have the huewai health app and on my 25 min run today it said I spent 6 min in the fat burning zone, 1 min aerobic, 15 min anaerobic and 8 min in extreme with a max heart rate of 168. Is this OK? I want to lose weight but if the majority of the time my hr is anaerobic or extreme will I still lose weight and is it good for my heart?

Is running good for my heart?
If you are worried your heart is too fast go slower, short amounts of time at max heart rate shouldn’t do any harm if you are otherwise healthy, i am not medical though so if you have concerns pop along to your doctor or nurse and get it checked out
My first few runs were very high heart rate but over time it’s got lower so this plan does make us stronger in lots of ways
Thanks willowandsola. I'm already going pretty slow. My husband also said my hr should come down as I get fitter so I'll keep going!
Maximum heart rate tends to decrease with age, so without knowing your age the question is meaningless.
The zones you refer to are based on averages..........you may not be average.
The only way to ensure they are accurate is to find out your true maximum heart rate and enter that into your device............and then again, many such hr monitors are notoriously inaccurate.
The moral of the story is that if you felt okay, then you probably will be..........forget the figures and enjoy yourself.
A little bit of knowledge can be very dangerous..........
As above... also, the “fat burning zone” is a bit of a myth that apps and trackers insist on promoting. health.usnews.com/health-ne...
Hi
My huawai phone tracks me and also the Google Fit app and sometimes I use Back Country Navigator to track a route. They all give different answers for the same run!
I suggest that you just judge how you feel when you do a run, you can always treat it as a practice run if it is not going well!
As the heart rate is calculated on age, it's difficult to say if it's ok (and I wouldn't be taking medical advice from me over the internet anyway 😂) but I can tell you what mine does. I'm 51 and my heart rate hit 191 in week 4 though it's normally hits the mid to high 170's. I know that I'm "supposed" to go at a max of 169 but it does this even at a brisk walk! I have got slower but I'm more guided by effort now. If I can't talk I'm pushing too hard so I slow down. If my chest felt uncomfortable (which it did a few weeks ago) or I was worried, I'd book in to see the Dr.
