Aching arms

Does anyone have advice on why my arms start to ache about 2k into a run? The rest of me is fine! I’ve actually had to stop mud-run to give them a rest. I have been running for well over a year and hold my arms in the exact same position so not sure why it’s happening now. They ache and I have pins and needles in my hands. 😔

I had that for a while and still do sometimes I’d ive struggled with the run. I think we subconsciously put our tedium in our shoulders and it transfers to our arms. I was told to “run like a penguin” every now and then ...so put your arms down like a penguins flippers and just flap your hands a bit it squeeze into fists and release a few times. Do this a few tunes a run and see if it helps.also it made me giggle and released a bit of tension that way.

And when you get home do some arms and shoulder stretches too. I think we mostly concentrate on our legs stretches. Try the one where you put the right arm across the body horizontally and pull it slightly by putting the left forearm behind the right elbow and pressing. And also the one where you put your right arm up in the arm and then bend it down so that the flat of your hand rests on the back of where your head joins your shoulder, then with your left hand very gently pull your right elbow to the left a little

Hope I’ve explained those so you know what I mean

Thanks so much for your reply and tips about stretching. You’re right, I always concentrate on warming up my legs but never my arms. I will give that a go!

Are you holding anything in your hands?

It is not advisable as it can cause muscle tensions.

No! Not even a tissue. ☺️

It's not that then...........just try to be relaxed throughout your body.

There is a link to a guide to posture in the guide to the plan.

Ok I will check that out, thanks!

Maybe do some dynamic stretches with your arms as part of your warm up routine, then some static arm stretches at the end.

Good luck.
