This weekend I had a dribbly nose and sore throat. No cough or fever, but felt rubbish. No gym yesterday either, just extra rest and LOTS of fluids.
Instead of my usual 6am, chilly run this morning, I stayed in bed before dealing with the school-run.
Just in case I *could* run, I got dressed in my kit, dropped kid off at school and approached the lake...
...the sun shone, it felt WARM, birdies were singing, some lovely music appeared on my shuffle, other joggers, new and familiar, were smiling as they ran past me...
OK, let's DO this!
Today's run was great! Legs were not heavy, my pace was slow and steady to start off, my mind felt relaxed - I smashed the 25 minutes and felt that I had fuel in the tank to go on-and-on... I blew my nose 3 times, my breathing was a bit awkward but doable, and no dogs chased me today (bonus!).
Isn't it interesting how a bit of warmth and sunshine can transform your mindset and help make for a happy run?
